Goal: To take real-world examples of COVID-19 apps, review their privacy goals and what has and has not been achieved. To discuss lessons learned and how to apply these for Covid apps, and more generally in the future to the developing MyData ecosystem.

Description:

Johannes Ernst will present on experiences of a team that has evaluated Covid apps for privacy and finds many failings.
Julian Ranger will present on how the MyData approach can give total privacy, and uses Consentry as a real-world example.
Discussions will cover the lessons learned and how to apply these for Covid apps, and more generally in the future to the developing MyData ecosystem. Questions will include:

  1. Are these lessons generally applicable beyond Covid?
  2. What are the key indicators one can assess for privacy applications. Especially, when one doesn’t have full access to the underlying code.
  3. What are the best practices for privacy?
