Johannes Ernst

Founder/CEO, Indie Computing Corp.

Johannes Ernst is a technologist and entrepreneur who thinks we should all get our data back.

Johannes is the founder and CEO of Indie Computing Corp., a Silicon-Valley-based startup that sells pre-configured server appliances that provide much of the same functionality common “cloud” services provide, but while storing all data on hardware the user has full control over. Customers include individuals, households, small businesses and departments globally who have valuable data they wish to keep private, from personal photos to business spreadsheets, from calendars to legal documents.

Johannes is a co-founder or founding director of MyData Silicon Valley, Project App Assay for COVID-19, the Me2B Alliance, and the OpenID Foundation, among others. He has built and released products as varied as a graph database, a Linux distribution, mobile healthcare solutions, distributed engineering environments, IoT, personal knowledge management tools, invented the first URL-based digital identity scheme for the internet, and started and contributed to a range of open-source projects.

He also thinks it’s time to make user-driven personal data a market reality in 2021. Feel free to reach out.
