Joe (Hyung Joon) Kim

Founder and President of Online Privacy at UCLA, University of California, Los Angeles

Joe is a senior at UCLA whose interest lies in the intersection of sociology, law, and digital privacy. As the Founder and President of Online Privacy at UCLA, Joe is currently working to establish a network of digital privacy academics interested in the human-centric approach to data management in California.

In the past, Joe worked in the Digital Transformation Lab at 2e Consulting and worked for an Intellectual Property lawyer to file trademark and patent applications to USPTO. Because of his bilingual ability, Joe has translated for the Korea Data Agency, a government bureau under the jurisdiction of Korean Ministry of Science and ICT.

As a member of MyData Korea hub, Joe will be speaking about the state and the limitations of digital privacy in South Korea.
