Emilia Rönkkö

COO, Co-Founder, Locia Solutions Oy

Dr. Sc. (tech.) Emilia Rönkkö is a Docent of Urban Planning at the Oulu School of Architecture, University of Oulu. Her field of expertise covers areas of data-driven urban planning and demand responsive development strategies in smart cities. She is a co-founder of Locia Solutions Oy, a Finnish UrbanTech startup providing a digital tool called CapaCity for anticipatory planning and capacity management of city services infrastructure (in operational segments such as education, daycare, health/elderly care).

Her mission is to replace the conventional way of doing things with technology-based solutions supporting smart governance. Combining the approaches of BI, LI and AI, cities are able to make evidence-informed decisions and optimize their service networks from the perspective of well-being promotion and SDGs. In the future, MyData can have a significant role in paving the way for a systemic change from the production-oriented way of service provision towards demand-driven, human-oriented urban service ecosystems.
