Partner interview

We are looking forward to new perspectives and collaborations. More than anything, Finland is willing to learn how to best promote sustainable digital societies that offer equal opportunities for everyone and leaves no one behind.

– Jarmo Sareva, Ambassador for Innovation

Why did you decide to partner with this unique conference? What’s the added value?

The global mega trends of digital transformations, artificial intelligence and big data are shaping all our lives and societies. We must work harder and smarter to make sure that the future digital world is more equal, more sustainable. However, no one alone can design and build prosperous societies for the future. Networking, international collaboration and listening to the experts are of utmost importance in the process.

As the overarching theme of the Conference aptly states: “We need radical collaborations for designing the new normal”. We are very much looking forward to the discussions and insights that this global assembly of more than 1 000 representatives undoubtedly offers.

What are you looking forward to most about the conference?

We are looking forward to new perspectives and collaborations. More than anything, Finland is willing to learn how to best promote sustainable digital societies that offer equal opportunities for everyone and leaves no one behind.

Why is this year’s event exceptionally topical for Finland?

Finland has been given a mandate to co-lead the Action Coalition on Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality of the Generation Equality process. The five-year process, launched in 2020, led by France and Mexico and coordinated by UN Women, brings together different stakeholders to promote gender equality and the rights of women and girls.

Together with five other Action Coalitions, Finland will promote gender equality through concrete actions and commitments currently under design. As a part of this year’s MyData Online, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will host a session on gender and data on 10 December, entitled “Why is all data not created equal”. We are very much looking forward to hearing and learning insights that will guide us in the planning of our Generation Equality actions.
