Session host: Joanna van der Merwe
Goal: We aim to inform how smart cities should intentionally benefit citizens, as well as protect them from inherent risks associated with data-driven public private partnerships. We will explore how smart city partnerships could use technologies to strengthen people’s rights.
Description: The session will focus on emerging data-driven public private partnerships and their associated risks and challenges. In particular, we will discuss how smart cities face some of these significant challenges, such as the difficulty in creating human-centred decisions when integrating technology. After presenting our current solutions to these challenges, we will break out into interactive groups to brainstorm and develop additional solutions for these most pressing challenges related to partnerships and fair data usage.
